But My Work Seems So Useless

Good morning, Mommies!

I’ve been thinking of you and praying for you this morning. I wanted to share this verse from Isaiah that I came across today while doing my morning reading.

“I replied, ‘But my work seems so useless!
I have spent my strength for nothing and to no purpose.
Yet I leave it all in the Lord’s hand;
I will trust God for my reward.'”
(Isaiah 49:4)

This particular section of the chapter is focused on the servant’s commission to deliver God’s message, and the suffering and discouragement he often faced. In our roles as Mommies, there are days, even seasons, where we may feel this way, too. After all, we are serving our families and have a lot on our plates. We encourage and cheer-lead. We correct and discipline. We nurture and bring peace.

It can be very overwhelming at times. And when we don’t see the results we think we should be seeing, it can feel discouraging. But we need to trust that God will take our sacrifice of time and effort, and mold and shape it into something selfless and beautiful for our families. We need to continue on faithfully in what we are called to do and remember to trust in God for the outcome.

Have a wonderful day!
